The recording of Broken Tone
During the rehearsals prior to the album the idea to record an acoustic track arouse. The spong most suitable was the song Broken tone from the fifth demo. Broken Tone was the last song to be recorded for the ep. The idea was to
capture the sound and atmosphere of the band playing the song
acoustically live in the same room. No overdubs and no separation
between the instruments.
Tobias played the main rhythmic acoustic guitar and sang the backing
vocals, Anders the lead guitar runs, Mattias played the accordion and
Thomas played EMI´s grand piano. Nicklas obviously sang the lead vocals.
As we had run out of 24-track tape the track became " live " in more than one sense. Fredrik Andersson mixed it live down onto DAT. Four takes were recorded. The second take is the one which appears on the album.
